Shakti, also known and Durga or Prakriti (Nature).
Shakti literally means the ability, how I perceive Shakti is, “the one who gives ability to the God is the goddess”
Brahma who is the God of creation gets his ability when Saraswati is there and she is the Goddess of knowledge.
Vishnu who is the God of maintenance gets his ability when Laxmi is there and she is the Goddess of wealth.
Shiva who is the God of distortion gets his ability when parwati (Shakti or Gurga) is there and she is the goddess of nature and power.
Worshiping Shakti has different benefits and different purposes in different communities.
The main reference I take for Shakti roop painting is Durga Saptsati.
