कलाकार और कारीगर Artist vs craftsmen

Start can be a lie but there should not be any bigger truth at the end.

A message to emerging artists

I saw a beautiful painting on the wall of my teachers house where i use to go often to clear my maths doubt. I observed the beautiful smile on the kids painting , saw the fine strokes of faded colours.

One day when i came back to home, I couldn’t stop myself to make a similar painting but I needed to have a set of colors for that. After requesting my parents for almost 3 hours they lent me 15 rupee to buy a set of Rangila colour which was like dream come true for me. I painted each stroke with a same hope as a farmer sows the seed in his farm.

Mom saw the painting at the almost finished stage, her happiness was clearly visible on her face. Even after knowing she asked me with a surprising face- “ वॉव पिंटू, ये तू बनाया है? “

With a uncontrollable and innocent smile i said- “हाँ “

These encouraging words from my parents were the backbone of my life as an artist, I continued seeing paintings n making it on my drawing book and telling people that it’s my painting.

That was a start of my lie and it was not my fault because even my teacher lied to me that day when i asked him about the painting and he said it’s made by his wife but even her wife copied it from somewhere else as i did from her.

Till the very long time I didn’t realize that  I’m not making those painting but actually I’m just copying the art which originally belongs to someone else.

I realised it recently that there’s a difference of light years between an artist and a craftsman (कलाकार और कारीगर)

An artist makes what he feels inside his heart and a craftsman makes what he sees from his eyes.

But in some corner of my heart I also believe that- “चमकाया भले ही सच ने हो मुझे पर तराशा तो झूठ ने ही था। “
